Fóroige
Fóroige is the leading youth organisation in Ireland, working with approximately 50,000 young people aged 12-18 every year through volunteer-led clubs and staff-led youth projects. Fóroige clubs encourage young people to take responsibility and be part of shaping the world around them while developing their talents, skills and character, while also having a great time along the way.
VECP Fóroige Club was set up in September 2010 this club was set up with the help of the leaders from the last club to which most of our leader were members of. The club was set up to provide a safe place for young people to hang out, meet new friends and have a voice. We currently have about 16 members and 3 leaders. We are always looking for both new members and leaders to join.
Club Night
Fóroige clubs generally meet on Friday night for 2 hours from 7 to 9pm. The club night begins with a formal meeting, led by the club committee, to make decisions about the club. Then members decide if they want to work on a project based on Fóroige’s education programmes or just hang out with their friends and maybe enjoy some games or activities.
Leaders are members of the local community who want to get involved and make a difference. The leaders work with the members to make the club work. There must be at least one adult leader present for a club meeting to take place and an adequate number of leaders to facilitate club numbers on the night. We also welcome any members of the community who would like to become a leader to contact us.
Club Members are 12 – 18 year old from the local area. Here is what some of our members say about why they come to the club “For the craic” “To meet up with friends” and “because it’s fun”
If there is anyone who would like to join the club as a leader or a club member they are welcome to come along on a friday night to meet everyone. We meet in either the VECP room or the church at 7pm or contact Melanie on 0872342099
